Founded by Robert Sandgren and Fredrik Sävenberg, Sweden’s Monokel produced contemporary frames accompanied by beautiful campaign imagery. Teaming up with store Voo Berlin, the pair pull in the talents of artist and furniture designer Axel Wannberg whose impressive client list includes Stutterheim, Eytys and Our Legacy among others. Creating a set of mirrored, geometric, block sculptures, Wannberg’s work inspires the all-white premium acetate unisex frame with its silver mirrored Carl Zeiss Vision lenses.
A comment on ‘reality’ and constructed identities, “the project explores the concept of modern narcissism and the shifted self-image in a digital and hyper social society;” intentionally out of proportion, the sculptures reference skewed ideas of the ‘self.’ Taking a first look at the installation in these beautiful images from Johan Wennerström, with just 50 pieces on offer, be quick and grab a pair at Voo, or Monokel.
